August 4 & 5, 2012
Vonna and I have started another trip. This time we are on our way to Oregon, and
then back down the coast to Half Moon Bay to finish our trip. I will call this “Our 2012 Trip to Oregon
& Back”. We are looking forward to
some down time, relaxing and not doing a lot.
I may not always do a daily blog, but will keep up with what we are
doing and where we are.
Our first stop is in Red Bluff to spend some time with our
Grandson, Matthew, his wife, and his three boys. We have really been looking forward to this
time together.
We brought the trailer home to load the last of the clothes
and food on Saturday morning. Some
people thought that we were having a yard sale.

The yellow sign says Yard Sale with an arrow pointed to the Trailer! |
We got out of town about 10:30, and thought that we would
get to Red Bluff about 3 or so. Did I tell
you that we had to stop at the RV Supply to get a new jack for the front of the
trailer? It was blowing fuses. My fault, I forgot to put up and bend
it. Expensive lesson.

| This is the Left side |
We stopped for lunch and then stopped at a rest area about 16
miles from Red Bluff in Corning to go to the rest room. Came back to the rig and the guy next to me
asked if I noticed the flat on the trailer.
I had checked it out 60 miles before that and everything was fine.
 |
| And this is the Right side. |
Walked around the other side of the trailer and guess
what? Another flat on that side. It was not completely flat, so I tried to put
air in it. Came out faster than I could
put in. I decided to call AAA. They said it would be 30 minutes. We waited for an hour and I called them
back. Did I tell you it was about 100
degrees outside? They said that my card
didn’t cover the trailer and they had been trying to call me. Really funny.
I told them to forget it and called Les Schwab Tires. They were closed, but said they would get
someone there for a premium. They
brought two tires and we were on our way.

All the boys had to get into the picture with Grandma. Jason wouldn't let her out of his sight. |
 |
| You said to smile! |
Matt was at the RV Park waiting to help us set-up. In no time we were sitting inside
relaxing. Matt headed to get the rest of
the family while we cleaned up and we met at our favorite Mexican Restaurant in
town. We had a great meal, visiting with
all of them. All the boys wanted to sit
by grandma – hard to do when there are three of them, but they worked it
out. We had ice cream to finish the
night off, Vonna and the boys had vanilla and Elissa and I had fried ice
cream. A great meal.
 |
| We are Full!! |
We had decided to sleep in late and meet at noon or 1 on
Sunday. Matt ended up having to work so
it was about 2 before they got to the trailer.
Jason wanted to ride with us so before we knew it he ran and got his car
seat. He was really excited about riding
with us and talked all the way to Redding.
Vonna and I were having problems keeping up with everything he was
saying.
 |
| She said it is easy! What happened? |
 |
| Look Mom, I can do it! |
We got to Wal-Mart and spend 2 or 3 hours shopping, the boys
found cars and an outfit apiece, and we found a few things that we left at
home. Matt and Elissa even found a couple
of items. It was fun. The boys held our hands, and seemed glad to
see us.
Jason knew that we were leaving in the morning. He told us and his brothers that he was
leaving in the morning. We asked where
he was going and he said “with you”. We
said what about school and he said he didn’t need school. He said he would pack and be ready.

End of a perfect day at Starbucks! |
We stopped at our trailer and visited for a while. It was getting late and the boys were getting
tired. We told them that we would be
back again to see them. It was very nice
to have some time with the 5 of them.
I am so jealous! Sounds like an absolutely wonderful time! So glad you got to spend time with Matt and the family! Love you guys!
