Spring of 2012 - Day 45

March 31, 2012

Today looked like it was going to be really nice. Sun was out and it wasn't real cold. We FaceTime with Tammy & Tom.

Found that Timothy was doing better this morning. Later in the day we found out that they moved him out of ICU, but will keep him one more night.

We had breakfast and showers and it started to sprinkle. I went down to the Nature Center they have here.

It was very interesting and the volunteers were very knowledgable. It rained most of the time I was there.

We played games the rest of the day. It stopped raining in time to BBQ. We had steak, rice, & asparagus for dinner. We played more games, a short walk with the dogs, and watched a short movie that Curt had given us to watch. It really made you think!

Today was a great day. I think we relaxed some, & enjoyed just being together.

Spring of 2012 - Day 44

March 30, 2012

Up early this morning. We are moving today. We will miss this green place, but will be glad to be at the ocean.

We went back to Ellen's for breakfast. It was good. Got back and loaded up. We rushed to get out of there and left town at about noon.

Drive was nice, no traffic. Got here and set-up by 3, ate a small lunch and need to go to to market. We could have waited but needed a Starbucks!

We drove back by the ocean and watched the wind surfers for a while. Then home to try to find a place for the groceries.









I fixed ribs & potatoes for dinner. It was really good.

Played a couple of games, Alan won so Vonna did want to play anymore. LOL.






Received call from Carol. Timothy was in hospital. He had fallen & has a concussion. We weren't sure if it was more, but God was answering prayers and brought him through it. He will be spending night in hospital with mom to see if there are any other problems.

Enough for one day. I'm tired & off to read & bed.

Spring of 2012 - Day 43

March 29, 2012

Today was a relaxing day.  We got up before 8 (or Alan did, Vonna was up earlier) and had breakfast and coffee.

We needed to do laundry, so it was off to the showers and laundromat.  They are right next to each other, so it made it easy.  After we started the laundry Vonna went back to clean up the house.

We ate lunch late and decided to make a trip back into Solvang.  There were a couple of shops that were closed, and we still had room in the trailer for more things.  My grandmother always picked up rocks to bring back from where they stayed.  We don't bring back rocks, but we fill up with other items.





We stopped for dinner, and then to the trailer for games.  We had some cookies from one of the bakeries.

We have had a great time here, and I'm sure we will return here.  The park is great, nice and green.  Park is about 1/2 full and plenty of room for all.

Looking forward to getting to Pismo Beach.  We will be seeing all of the kids there.  It will be a fun couple of weeks.

Spring of 2012 - Day 42

March 28, 2012

Getting to today's blog a little earlier that usual.  We got back a little earlier than usual and I decided to work on it.

This was another lazy morning - it is great being retired.  It was a little overcast early this morning, but cleared up before noon.

We rushed around and decided that we would go to a place called Ellen's Pancake House before noon - not much before noon - but before noon.  My mom and dad used to go there when they were in the area.  It is a nice Danish pancake house.

We left there and headed for Solvang.  The sun was out and the weather was great.  We walked about the town, looking in every store.  Vonna even found some things that she couldn't live without.  I did find some shirts on sale.





There was an article in the Turlock Journal this morning.  Joey - Vonna's nephew - had it on Facebook this morning.  It is about Mikaylah.  It is a great article and here is a link for it - TJHS student honored posthumously for courage, positive attitude  I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did.

  We had dinner at a little place in Solvang.  It was good.  Then looked around a little more.

After we got back to trailer we had coffee and tea.  It was a nice evening.

Spring of 2012 - Day 41

March 27, 2012

Today was a travel day. We got up and had cereal for breakfast, moved everything around in trailer, & hit the road early - about 10:45. Retirement is great.

We thought we would miss most of the traffic, but we forgot it LA area. 25 miles per hour down the freeway. Final got to down and up to 35 mph.

We traveled on, making it to our next stop, Solvang. The park is very nice. My parents came here as a part of there travels.

We ate dinner at Anderson's Pea Soup. Dinner was good, Vonna shopped a little and we stopped at grocery store.

Came home, played a game, read, & off to bed.

Good trip. Will see what tomorrow brings!

Spring of 2012 - Day 40

March 26, 2012

We got up early today. Vonna wanted to do some shopping before she got to tired.

We left for Disneyland about 10 or so. The stores are vacant at that time of the morning. Vonna found a sweatshirt. She found a couple of other items but decided she didn't really like the way they fit.







We met with Vonna's Aunt Ruth & cousin Curt. We spent most of the day at California Adventure, Soaring over California & enjoying Aladdin's world. Then to Disneyland to fight the pirates and to the Saloon to get some refreshments and watch the show.

By this time we were getting tired, so we decided to meet for dinner. We had to go back to the trailer to let the dogs out & get the truck. Ruth & Curt came by so we could follow them.

Maybe Curt was tired earlier than the rest of us.

We went to dinner in Fullerton at the restaurant that Curt works at. We all had pork chops and the food and dessert was great.

Thanks to Ruth & Curt for sharing the day with us. And thank everyone for sharing our time in Anaheim with us. We look forward to seeing everyone next time we travel through.

Spring of 2012 - Day 39

March 25, 2012

Today was a lazy day. I made breakfast. Then showered and cleaned up around trailer.

We FaceTime with Tammy. It was nice to see her and have a cup of coffee together.

I took truck to fill up with fuel. Then make couple of stops. Needed a Starbucks but they are not on every corner here like a home.

We were planning on Disneyland today, but there was a storm coming in. The morning was so nice that we knew we had made a mistake. About noon it started to sprinkle and by 2 we knew we had made the right decision. It poured. The wind blew and we sat in trailer watch as people were coming in & trying to park.

The rain stayed with us most of the day. Last night we notice that we had another leak. Will have to take in after we get home from Virginia.

We played games. I won everything for a change. Vonna gave up and said she was going to bed.

Spring of 2012 - Day 38

March 24, 2012

Up this morning and on to new adventures.  It looks like it will turn into a nice day today.

We were off to Brea to meet Vonna's Uncle Ken (her mom's brother) and his daughter and Vonna's cousin, Kim.  We had a great breakfast and visit with them.  Ken is still working and Kim is a teacher.  We talked and had a lot of great memories.

Next we stopped by Yorba Linda to see if we could find our first house that we bought.  I looked at the map and drove right to it.  The neighborhood looks great, and it brought back a lot of memories.  The time we closed the street for the fourth of July, times when Bob and Sue, our next door friends, would come over for dinner, or just to talk.  Or on the other side was long time friends Sandy & Bill.  The years have flown by.  

Our next stop was Julie & Ray, another of Vonna's cousins.  To list Vonna's cousins that were there would take a while (LOL).  Kurt, Rose, & Anthony, plus spouses, kids, and friends.  It was great to see them all.  We need to spend more time with family.  Life is short, and memories are some of the most important thing we have.

We came home, tired, but filled with memories.  I had to run to the grocerey store for a few items.  Vonna was really to tired to go anywhere.

Spring of 2012 - Day 37

March 23, 2012

Another sunny Southern California overcast morning. We were both up early, had showers, and ready for breakfast.

I made bacon & pancakes and Vonna cleaned up afterward.  We really have a system going here.

Then we headed for our day at Disneyland. We're on the bus & Vonna finds out the life story of the two little girls sitting across from us.  She wanted to know where one of the girls got her shoes.  They had lights flashing with every movement.

Rachel sent us a text to let us know she was running late.  We were wonding what to ride and walked by a face painting booth.  So Vonna decided to get a peace sign.  It looked very good and started a few conversations during the day.

We rode on a few rides, including the Monorail, & again Vonna starts talking to a little girl. The girl says she not allowed to talk to strangers, so Vonna points to me and says "he is the strange one, so don't talk to him". Great time.

We rode a couple more rides and by then Rachel got there - just in time for lunch. We decided on the place and the food was great, service was great, as was the company.

We rode more rides, shopping a little, more rides, time for ice cream, and a show at the Horseshoe Saloon. We enjoyed our time with Rachel and told her to let John out of the house next time.

Rose, one of Vonna's cousins, was also at Disneyland and we caught up with her in time for coffee. We had a great visit.

We have really enjoyed these days at Disneyland.  More memories with the ones we love.

Spring of 2012 - Day 36

March 22, 2012

A little overcast when we got up this morning. By 10 or so it was sunny & bright.

I couldn't find a thing to look at

We had decided to go shopping today. We needed a few items for our trip to Virginia. We found what we needed & more.

Vonna had to have something to put on her feet

Vonna decided to get her nails done, & I decided I needed a DQ. We were both happy.

We headed back to the trailer, ate dinner, played a game (Vonna won again), read, & off to bed.

It was another great day, but I have to get back on track and eat better!

Spring of 2012 - Day 35

March 21, 2012

Woke up to sun & blue skies. Guess it is Sunny Southern California.

Today was a planned day to Disneyland. We got up early this morning, 7:30 or so, got dressed, ate breakfast, & of to Disneyland by 10:30. Retired life!

We got into Disneyland about 11 and we were on the go all day. We rode the rides, ate lunch, watched shows, & did a little shopping. We thought we were 18 again.

We enjoyed the new Star Wars.  It was good.  We also had never seen the Captain EO 3D movie.  It was also good.  We watched again the Mr. Lincoln Moments.  No trip to Disneyland would be complete without seeing this again.

We couldn't ride the rough rides, but had a great time.  Maybe I can ride a couple of them with Rachele.

I came back to trailer to let dogs out for an hour or so in late afternoon. I got back in time to watch parade. We like the Electric Parade better, but it was fun.

We stayed until after fireworks & headed back to trailer. The end of a perfect day.

Spring of 2012 - Day 34

March 20, 2012

Today was a travel day. Up early, no wind, no rain, a wonderful day.

Up to take dogs out & for the first time they were ready to go. We took a long walk, and feeling much better.

After breakfast I took the dirty clothes down to wash. While waiting I watched the surfers. Great day to be surfing.

I finally got finished. Vonna had inside of trailer ready to go. We loaded the truck & trailer and left South Carlsbad at a little after noon. We will miss the sound of the surf & walks on the sand, & the wonderful sunsets!

We arrived in Anaheim a couple of hours later. Nice park. I backed right in & got everything set up.

We decided to go to Knotts' Berry Farm for dinner. The chicken was great. We shopped and I was the only one that bought anything. Found some Old Guys Rule Shirts & hat.

We got home, played a game, showered, and watch the fireworks. End of another day. It was great.

Looking forward to Disneyland tomorrow. Wish you could be here!!!

Spring of 2012 - Day 33

March 19, 2012

This was a laid back day. Vonna didn't get out of trailer till about noon or so. I ran to Ace & Starbucks in the am. Wind was down to a slow breeze, and warmed up some.

We found that the rug was wet in the corner by the slide out. Guess the rain & wind was to much for the gasket on to outside. Anyway, it will dry in a couple of days.

In the afternoon we took a walk on the beach. Vonna counted the steps - 111 down & 111 up. Fun! But we found some shells and we really enjoyed the time here.

We had tacos for dinner & played games into the night. This has been a great place to come. We have really enjoyed this week.

Spring of 2012 - Day 32

March 18, 2012

Windy all night and all day. Our flag was in the bushes, light was on ground, and tablecloth was completely wore out from the wind.

We had a nice morning with Pam & Sonny. Makes you forget your problems when you are visiting with good friends. Thanks again for coming.

It was so windy it took all 3 of them to open the door

We left the campsite at about noon or so & off to Subway for lunch and Starbucks for drinks. Pam & Sonny left for home, sad to see them go, but it was time.

We stopped at the hardware store for a couple of items. Came home and cleaned the trailer. It was really dirty because of the wind. Even cleaned the truck up a little. Fixed the flag pole & a couple of other items.

We rested a little, Vonna made a video for Tammy, & we are playing games in between phone call & texting.
