On to the South - Day 11

April 28, 2012

Today was a lazy day. Up in the morning. Breakfast, when watched a little tv, Vonna did laundry, Bob was off, and Brenda doing something.

I decided to go for a walk to see neighborhood. A lot of nice homes, and countryside.

We packed for our trip, and relaxed until time for bed. Vonna & Brenda didn't have to get ready for bed, they forgot to get dressed.

I was a little homesick today. Been a long time since we were there. Missing my daughter.

We will be on the road the next few days. Will try to write, but will catch up before we leave for home.

On to the South - Day 10

April 27, 2012

Morning came early, especially for old people. We never know how we will feel in the morning. A little stiff.

We watched tv for little bit, showered, and by noon we had got our shoes on. Don't know where the mornings go to.

We looked for a room near DC. Found one. We are going for a couple of days. Then to Amish country for a day and any other stops we want to make. Will be a nice road trip.

During the afternoon the ladies drove to town while Bob & I went out to target practice with his 45 & 22. We all had a great time.

Bob & I got back before the girls. Bob's lawn mower was ready. We picked it up. Then Bob finished his lawn.

Angie and her girls came over for dinner. Dinner was great & we talked into the night. Or at least till 9:30.

Watched a movie, then to bed. Great memories, great times.

On to the South - Day 9

April 26, 2012

Good Morning World! Everyone was up early today. We are excited, going to breakfast.

We got out of the house about 11. We had to finish watching Matlock before we left.

Our first stop was Cracker Barrel. We had breakfast even though it was closer to lunch. Vonna was feeling much better. I could tell because she was shopping. And buying!

Old People helping older people
Another great Hat
Next we drove to Henderson, NC for a shopping afternoon. We went to Burkes' and Big Lots. Burkes is the bargain store of the South. Vonna & Brenda even found shirts for 55 cents. And Vonna found another peace sign.

Big Lots had a lot of sales, including pajama's with peace signs. Oh, and also peace sign rings.
I Love You

Next stop was Brenda's favorite Mexican restaurant. We had to call Angie to find where it was at. We finally found it. We were going the wrong way.

Came back to the Wallace Corner. Relaxed, worked on different things, watched a little tv, and off to bed.

Another great day, making more memories.

On to the South - Day 8

April 25, 2012

We all got up early, about 8 or so. Not sure how us retired folk sleep so much.

Guess Who?
This was a great day. It was about noon when everyone decided it was time to get dressed. We rushed around and got out of the house about 3:30.

Well, Bob & I got out a little earlier to go to the post office. Bob want to show me Brenda's car. It is a very nice car.

We stopped and got Vonna a knee brace. Her knee is feeling a little better, but still hurting. We are having fun relaxing with the retired folk.

Our next stop was Angie & RL's house. They have a nice place. We visited and talked until it was time to go to the Beef Festival.

Very Intellegent!
We got to the festival at a little after 5:15 or so. Looked at all the vendors including RL's and picked up a bunch of stuff. The food was great, music was Jazz & Blues. We had a nice time & met a lot of people.

After it was over we went back the the Brooks's for pie & ice cream. It was great, and enjoyed visiting with the girls. We had a great time.

Off to the Wallace's. Enjoyed the night but it was late & time to go to bed.

A day of great memories. A great trip.

On to the South - Day 7

April 24, 2012

Had a great night's sleep. Woke up & everybody else was asleep. Spend some time reading & writing, catching up on a few things.

Slowly all the rest of the old people got up. Angie called to see what was happening. Her & RL came over to fix breakfast. Great meal & great company.

Bob was off to cut his lawn, RL washed the dishes, & I even dried a few of them. It was time for Vonna's doctor appointment before we knew it.

Vonna got right in and really liked the doctor. She said that it looks like she irritated her arthritis. She said she could get a shot or take some pills. Guess what she picked.

Off to Walmart to pickup the pills, and a few other items. We bought a brace, but it didn't fit. Off to CVS & bought another one. It didn't fit. Will try more tomorrow.

What Happened?  Bob doing dishes?

By the time I got back Angie was back. Brenda was making Tacos and RL & Claudia got here just in time for dinner. Everything was great. We talked and ate. And then Bob washed the dishes.

Fun Time!
We talked politics & religion. We had a great evening. Almost like old times. Thanks for a great evening.

After everyone left we talked a little more & finally off to bed. Almost midnight. Late for old people.

We had a great day. Made lots of memories. Nice being with Angie's girls, but missing Mikaylah a lot tonight. Sometimes it is very hard to to think about what was & what could have been. But other times it is impossible not to.

On to the South - Day 6

April 23, 2012

Woke up to a beautiful morning. It was still raining, but still a day that the Lord has made.

Vonna slept good, as long as she is off her leg she is better.

Brenda made a great breakfast. Bacon, eggs, & toast. Oh, and don't forget the home made jelly!

Robbie with two step-children and their baby boy
Robbie came over. His girlfriend was at the hospital and Brenda was going to watch the kids. Everything was fine. They got back after a few hours.

Angie was here for a few minutes, checking in on the old folks.

Bob & I went to Walmart. Picked up some groceries. Brenda was going to make dinner, but it was 8 by the time everyone left so we made soup & sandwiches for dinner.

Memoirs are special. Talking & visiting make special memories. We will keep them all in our minds and store them up for when we are not together.

Tomorrow Vonna goes to doctor. Maybe we will find something out. But we will enjoy our time here, even if it is only talking about old times!

On to the South - Day 5

April 22, 2012

Up bright and early.  This is a travel day, and off we are to Brenda and Bob's house.  We are looking forward to a couple of days rest.  It is raining.

We had to pack-up and be to church by 10:45.  TJ is going to preach and we didn't want to miss that.  We all got up, and away we go.  Eating breakfast as we passed the lobby.

We got to church at about 10:30.  We were the first there.  Talked to the pastor and then TJ and Mindy got there.  The pastor said that if it was his wedding he would not have been there.  But TJ wanted to preach to show us what he is doing.

TJ's friends - Didn't want them to leave.
The service was very good, and TJ did a great job.  Lots of good points.  He really made me think a lot.  There were several people who went forward to get saved.  It was a great morning.

TJ and Mindy's cars were wrapped in saran wrap I guess  The church didn't want them to leave on their honeymoon.  But they left anyway, driving to Florida and off on a cruise.

Smallest piece of pie I've seen
The rest of us went to lunch at Golden Coral.  The meal was great, although I ate to much.  I think I had better stop eating so much or I will not fit into my clothes that I brought with me.

I think I got a text
We headed to Brodnax, VA, home of Brenda and Bob for the last hundred years.  Looking forward to a couple of days rest.  We talked and laughed on the trip home, remembering old times and looking forward to the new times.  It rained most of the trip, we stopped at the store for a couple of items, and got to the house at about 6:30.

What is that on my shirt?

We caught up on Facebook, made sure that everything was ok, ate dinner, and had desert.  We were all tired, and looking forward to a restful night.

Tomorrow will bring more memories.  We are looking forward to a great time at the Wallace's.

On to the South - Day 4

April 21, 2012

Slept good, after I read and thought about the flat tire and what to do in the morning.

I got up early. About 7 and showered. Downstairs to get a cup of coffee. Sat down & call AAA & the rental car company. AAA came and changed the flat Found a hole in the side wall.

The rental car company asked if I could come by there & get another car. I said it was to far. Said to check local & they gave me the number.

At 9 I called the local company and no cars. I asked where I could take It. By this time Vonna, Brenda, & Bob were down for breakfast. We ate and Bob & I took off.

First to Chevy dealer. No tires, no help. Then to Chrysler dealer. No tires, called car company, looked around, and found one. By 1 we were back at the hotel.

We left as soon as we got back, off to help with the reception hall. Got it set-up and it looks really nice.

Stopped for a quick bite at McD's, off to hotel to get dressed. Got there at 3:30 & on to road before 4:30. Had to stop & get water for dinner. What a rush.
They clean up Good!

Wedding was really nice. Said their vowels and TJ sang what a great service. I cryed thinking about my granddaughter & how she wanted to be there. TJ & Mindy cryed through the whole thing. It was a great service, different, but nice.

Off we went to the reseption. Got drinks out, put reserve on the front tables, and tryed to keep things going. It was a couple of hours before the grand couple got there. Pictures. Helped get food out and it was all worth it. Everything turned out great.

Bride & Groom dance their way in. Then bride & her dad, then groom & mother. I cryed through it all.

Then food time. Mexican food was great. We sat and laughed as the dancing went on. It was a great night. The bride & groom took a couple more pictures and were off for the night. It was a perfect day & night.
I need a BITE!

More CAKE!!!!
Vonna's leg has bothered her and is getting worse the more she is on it. We will be able to relax the next few days.

Anyway, Vonna sat down as we helped cleanup. After awhile Angie said to go home. I got the rest of the old people and left.

We got back to the hotel, talked, & off to bed.

The wedding was great & so far we have really enjoyed the trip & the company.
