2013 Winter Trip - Stop 6

March 5 thru 14, 2013

We were off to Bullhead City, AZ, next to Laughlin, NV.  We were hoping to meet up with a few of Vonna's cousins.

This stop started off with us relaxing for a day or so.  We had a lot of fun at Las Vegas, and didn't want to miss anything that was going on.  Bullhead City is a little smaller and laid back.  We stayed in a county park called Davis Dam.  It is right on the river, and a very nice park.  We caught up on cleaning and laundry the first day or so.

Then Vonna wanted to go look for a pair of pants.  She thought we were traveling in the winter and brought all winter clothing.  It is warm here, as it was the last few days in Las Vegas, only maybe warmer.  So we found a WalMart first, got some stuff, got home and guess what.  You are right, it doesn't fit.  So we took that back and found a outlet mall in Laughlin.  We walked and looked, I looked, and read, and we walked and looked, and found a couple of things.  We were very happy.  Everything fit, except for two items, and we had to make a trip to take them back, and look a little more.

We stopped on the way back to the trailer at one of the casinos.  We walked around, went outside and looked at the river, and left.  The last of the big spenders!!

But we did see three big spenders, on there way into the casino on our way out.  They had on tight leather pants, low cut tops, and spike shoes.  They were ready to take on the casino.  Faces made up, smiles on their faces, helping each other along.  Did I tell you that they were at least 70 years old?  I couldn't believe it, but then again I live in a bubble.  I wish I would have got the camera out, but I was too much in shock.  We left and headed back to the trailer, shaking our heads.

Vonna called Janice, her cousin, and Kaylene, another cousin, and left them messages.  Janice called right back and said they were going to be out of town for the week-end, but would be back on Sunday or Monday.  No problem, we would meet with them on Monday at their home for lunch.

We got up early one morning, about 8 am, and decided we would go to a real ghost town called Oatman, AZ, near there.  They said that there were burros running the streets, and lots of things to see.  We were excited and headed up there.  It was a nice drive out Route 66.  This town was one of the stops on Route 66, and an old mining town.  We had a nice time looking in the stores, watching the gun fight, and petting the burros.  We had lunch in a little cafe in town, food was great.  It was a place that all should go if they get to the area.  Not many old towns left around.

Peggy and Robert, Vonna's cousins that we saw at Pismo Beach, were coming over to spend a couple of days with us.  They called on the way and had broken down on the way and were having AAA tow them into the nearest town.  They came in the next morning as we were sitting down to do nothing, and had left their trailer to be repaired.  A bearing came loose and they stopped before it damaged anything else.

At noon they got a call that it was ready, and we were leaving for Janice and Bruce's.  We got to Janice and Bruce's right on time.  They have a beautiful home in Fort Mojave, a little town outside of Bullhead City in Arizona.  We talked about old times, the good old days, and what has been happening in out our lives the last umpteen years.  It has been many years since we were together, and a lot has happened in our lives.

Janice and Daughter Kelly
Their daughter and twin granddaughters came by to see us.  We hadn't seen ??? in 12 or 14 years, and never the granddaughters.  It was a great afternoon and we loved every minute of it.  Lunch was great, and so was the company.  We decided to get together one more time before we left at a Chinese Restaurant for lunch.  We did the day before we left and enjoyed it.  The food was great.

Dinner
Peggy, Robert, & Vonna
One night we went to the Tropicana for dinner with Peggy and Robert.  The dinner was good, then we walked to the river and walked part of the river walk.  They have a walkway all along the river that you can walk to all the casinos and to the docks on the way.  We walked to one of the casinos and walked in.  They have a car show on the third floor, so we looked at the old cars, and told stories of our past.  Each of us saw cars that brought back memories.

We then walked to another casino, spend about $5.00 each, and headed home.  The last of the big spenders.

We hated to leave Bullhead City.  We enjoyed the company of Peggy and Robert.  We were camped right next door, the dogs got along good most of the time.  Chloe'p was her mean self most of the time, and Tippi tried to eat all of the food.  We will meet up with them again on the road.

We will see you all on the road.
